Fad diets are absolutely everywhere and probably more popular than ever in the western world as we have become so gullable and succeptive to advertisements for the next big thing, the next and most apparently effective way to shed the pounds in the shortest time possible. Being lazy and ever getting fatter westerners, the moment we see a weight loss remedy (that often seems too good to be true) we buy into it. Losing weight effectively starts with the BRAIN!
The problem with fad diets is is that you are forced to suddenly drop your calorific intake drastically over a certain period of time and to also remove entire macronutrients- carbs, fat or protein, all of which work synergistically together and in reality, removing any one of these will cause health problems along the way.
Below is a list of the roles each macro provides:-
Protein- maintains and rebuilds body tissue and plays a role in keeping your immunity in check
Carbs- the main energy source for the body
Fat- allows the body to absorb vitamins, cushions vital organs and aids growth and proper development
Never take on a diet that forces these away from you. The best thing to do is to avoid fad diets all together as you'll find that it's never really possible to maintain a healthy body and mind over a course of time. Also, I need to make you especially aware of diets that force your carb levels to nothing. You will experience weight loss but the weight you lose will mostly be water weight as for every gram of carbs (blood sugar) in the body, you will hold onto a further 3 grams of water. This leads to DEHYDRATION! Being dehydrated will leave you open to illness, weight gain (FAT), lack of concentration, reduced vitamin uptake and a totally messed up hormonal response from the body. It does go quite a bit more in depth but I'm going to cut it off here.
Do yourself a favour and make good choices and if your still confused then just speak to me.
Don't start a useless chain reaction. You will go nuts, become a slave to these ridiculous systems and not lose any weight.
Stay clean!
